Pricing

What goes into the pricing of a painting?

When you buy one of my paintings, you aren’t buying just pigments on a canvas - well, you are - but you are buying so much more. You are purchasing a skillfully crafted masterpiece that will be present in your home and passed down to your children, grandchildren, or relatives. A work of inspiration that will be present in your home through seasons of celebration, laughter, hardship, success, and new beginnings. Art is more than paints, canvases & frames - it is a physical companion to illuminate all that is good, true and beautiful; to inspire wonder and awe. A work of this nature is of incalculable value. But nonetheless, we artists must price our work - so I’ve included in my pricing the cost of materials, time spent laboring over your painting, shipping costs, frame (if you purchased one), and the years I’ve spent perfecting my craft. And for me, the joy you receive from collecting my work is of infinite value.

Creative Process & Materials

What materials do you use?

I use Premiere Cotton Stretched canvases for my original paintings. I use high quality acrylic paints. For prints, I use high quality artist paper or high quality canvas if it is a stretched canvas print. Each material I use as part of my creative process is designed to last forever so that you can have the best piece of art for your home.

Is each original painting varnished?

The final cherry-on-top of my creative process is to add a couple layers of clear varnish to each painting. The varnish gives a glossy glow to each painting without causing glare.

Do your original paintings come framed?

When picking out your painting, you will notice that most listings have the option of including one of my in-house frames. If you choose to purchase one of my frames with your painting, then your painting arrive framed. You can also choose to purchase your painting unframed. I like to give you the option of choosing to buy with or without the frame because many collectors like to hang their original paintings without a frame and let the surrounding wall space be the frame, or they have another frame in mind they would like to pick out on their own.

Do prints come framed?

My paper prints and stretched canvas prints come unframed. For framed prints, check out my shops at iCanvas and FineArtAmerica!

Will my original painting look amazing without a frame? Or do I need a frame?

My paintings look amazing with a frame and without a frame. That is why I have given you the option to choose whether you want a frame or not on many of the paintings. Many collectors like for the surrounding wall space to be the frame for their painting. It is whatever your aesthetic tastes desire. My paintings come with the edges painted, so it will look amazing either with a frame or without.

Do your paintings come ready to hang on my wall?

Yes, your original painting will come with hanging materials already installed on the back of the artwork. I go this extra step of installing the hanging materials because when you buy from me, you are buying the best of the best. You deserve not have to do the extra work of installing hanging materials.

If I buy a frame on my own, where do you recommend I look?
