Musicians at the Vineyard Cafe

My old neighborhood in LA smelled of gasoline, spilled oil, and dying roses. Folks slept on the sidewalks and in their cars in the Vons parking lot. People were kind and trying their best. Others were not so kind, like the guy who pelted me from high in his SUV with an industrial-sized bottle of GermX as I was walking on the sidewalk to the local coffee shop. (The toddler-sized bottle exploded on impact). Once I did reach the cafe, this courtyard sanctuary of bricks, trees, and bubbling fountains, the sounds of angry honking cars and sirens melted away into a quiet chatter of folks working and socializing. I could enjoy a moment of peace, drinking iced coffee and listening to the music.

This painting was created on a 1.5” thick canvas, with the painting continuing around the edges. It arrives unframed, ready to hang.
